Outside of Michigan, Holmstrom is hated. But it's only because he's so damn good at what he does.

It's just me speculating, really. If Hudler manages to stick overseas, the Wings can just demote Draper or something.

The obvious candidate to my eye is Thomas Holmstrom (2.25M). Homer turns 36 in January and has had problems with injuries for years owing to his style of play. He hasn't played more than 60 games in either of the last 2 years and his production is poised to drop off now that he's entering the dreaded 35+ club. He's probably still a useful player (best crease crasher in the league I'd say), but his utility is fading.

Drapes and Homer making almost 4 mil does hurt this day in age (especially Draper. Good lord). But I'll be glad if Jiri can keep a job overseas so that this doesn't turn into a giant mess. Having to ax Holmstrom is an awful thing for a Wings fan to imagine. Not entirely sure of how he's viewed outside of Michigan, but here he is a fan favorite in every sense of the term. The day he leaves will be a sad one, for sure.
